Cisternino

Cisternino has a population of 12.078 inhabitants (Cistranesi o Cisterninensi) and a surface of 54,06 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 223,5 inhabitants per square kilometer. It rises 394 metres above the sea level.

Population: The municipality of Cisternino had a popolation of 11.951 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 12.078 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 - 2001 a percentual variation of 1% inhabitants.

The inhabitants are distributed in 4.558 families with an average of 2,65 people per family.

The place: The territory of the municipality lies between 100 and 405 metres above sea level.

The altimetric spawn is thus of 305 metres.

Work and workers:There are 87 industrial firms employing 657 people that are the 24,53% of the total of the workers. There are 358 service firms employing 612 people that are the 22,85% of the total of the workers. There are also 303 firms employing 823 people that are the 30,73% of the total of the workers. There are also 73 administrative offices emplying 586 workers that are the 21,88% of the total of the workers.

There is a total of 2.678 workers, that are the 22,17% of the inhabitants of the municipality.
