Galatina has a population of 28.081 inhabitants (Galatinesi) and a surface of 81,61 square kilometers thus showing a population density of 344,0 inhabitants per square kilometer. It rises 78 metres above the sea level.

Population: The municipality of Galatina had a popolation of 29.296 inhabitants accordingly to the results of the national census made in 1991. After the national census made in 2001 the population was 28.081 inhabitants, thus showing during the years 1991 - 2001 a percentual variation of -4% inhabitants.

The inhabitants are distributed in 9.894 families with an average of 2,84 people per family.

The place: The territory of the municipality lies between 39 and 84 metres above sea level.

The altimetric spawn is thus of 45 metres.

Work and workers:There are 435 industrial firms employing 1.937 people that are the 26,84% of the total of the workers. There are 732 service firms employing 1.582 people that are the 21,92% of the total of the workers. There are also 544 firms employing 2.683 people that are the 37,18% of the total of the workers. There are also 128 administrative offices emplying 1.014 workers that are the 14,05% of the total of the workers.

There is a total of 7.216 workers, that are the 25,70% of the inhabitants of the municipality.
